When looking for a camera for my adventurous wife, I was taken back for a short while to help make this decision.  First I think of what “I” look for in a camera.  “I” was wrong.  (one of the three keys to a happy marriage – but that is for another time)  What she was looking for was a device to capture a good photograph where ever she was.  Now you may think, just use your iPhone or get yourself a nice small crop sensor DSLR.  Let me further explain a little bit about my lovely bride of almost 10 years.

For a career choice she is currently a firefighter and has worked for very specialized units in other “agencies” in her past.  For fun she participates in adventure racing, mountain biking, SCUBA diving, tri-athalons, mountaineering, and of course I could not leave out Ice climbing.  Before you think it, yes I married up.

I searched high and low for a camera that she could have at arms reach, could do the things she wanted to that where fast and did not require an additional housing.  We settled on the FujiFilm FinePix XP30 as it was “a Born Survivor!”
